Shasta County
See Life Up Here.
Space. Natural beauty. A remarkable outdoor lifestyle. Shasta County offers a different way to experience Northern California — without losing connection to the places that matter.
Sundial Bridge · Redding
A different kind of California.
Shasta County offers something increasingly difficult to find in California: room to breathe. Homes with land, distinctive residences, ranches and riverfront and lakefront properties sit within a landscape shaped by mountains, lakes, forests and the Sacramento River.
Redding provides the region's commercial and cultural center, while communities such as Palo Cedro, Bella Vista, Shingletown, Anderson and Shasta Lake offer their own distinctive settings and lifestyles.
For people coming from larger metropolitan areas, the attraction is often not simply what they can buy here. It is how they can live here.
The Sacramento River
A trail network at the heart of the city.
The Sacramento River doesn't simply pass through Redding. It is part of everyday life here. At the center of the city's extensive trail network, the Sacramento River Trail connects parks, open spaces and residential areas, providing remarkable public access for walking, running, cycling and simply enjoying the river.
Redding's trail system encompasses approximately 80 miles of paved and natural-surface trails, ranging from accessible riverfront paths to more challenging routes for cycling, mountain biking, hiking and equestrian use.
And the network continues to evolve. Caldwell Park, located along the Sacramento River Trail, is undergoing a major expansion supported by significant public investment. The approximately $6.7 million project includes a new bike park and plaza, trail lighting and improvements to this important riverfront recreation area.
In Redding, access to the outdoors can begin just minutes from home.
And that's only the beginning.
Shasta Lake, Whiskeytown, the Sacramento River and the surrounding mountains create extraordinary opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, cycling and exploring. Some of Northern California's most remarkable landscapes, including Lassen Volcanic National Park, are within easy reach.
Here, the outdoors isn't simply somewhere you visit. It can become part of everyday life.
Did You Know?
Shasta County is more connected than you might think.
Redding Regional Airport provides nonstop service to major connecting hubs including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and Seattle, creating convenient connections to destinations throughout the United States and internationally.
In 2025, the airport completed an approximately $30 million rehabilitation of its primary runway and associated infrastructure — a significant investment in the region's long-term air transportation capabilities.
For professionals, business owners and families considering a move to Shasta County, that connectivity can make it possible to enjoy the space and lifestyle of Northern California while remaining connected to major business centers and transportation hubs.
More space. More possibilities.
Shasta County's real estate reflects the diversity of the landscape itself. Luxury residences, homes on acreage, equestrian properties, ranches, lake-area homes and distinctive lifestyle properties provide choices that can be difficult to replicate in California's larger metropolitan markets.
Finding the right property begins with understanding how you want to live — the setting, the land, the community and the opportunities that matter to you.
A Personal Perspective
I made the move myself.
After 25 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, my family and I chose to make Redding our home. We were drawn by the quality of life, the landscape, the community and the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as part of everyday life.
That experience gives me a personal understanding of the questions people ask when considering a move here — not simply where to buy, but where they will feel at home.
If you're considering Shasta County, I'd be happy to share what I've learned.
Could you see yourself living here?
Whether you're actively considering a move or simply curious about what life in Shasta County could look like, a conversation is a good place to begin.
